Child Notes, Two Boys

Damage Multiplier

Another boy, wow! I had said that I wanted another girl, they are more fun. More than that I wanted a clearly less destructive force than another boy. One boy can certainly "explore his environment" while growing up and wind up hurting himself and others.

Kayla told me a story the other day of one of her classmate's brothers who pushed his finger into a hole in a bucket and got it stuck. I do not have all the details, but it took the Fire Department to cut away the bucket from his hand. Well, did he have a reason for doing this? Of course not, they never have a reason; they just instinctively explore their environment. Unfortunately this leads to numerous "accidents" and damage to personal property. This is just one boy, add another to the equation and you get what we call a "damage multiplier". Let us say that each boy alone has a damage coefficient of 3-5, say 5 in our case. It seems to make sense that two boys will have a combined damage coefficient of 10 when they are together. But it does not work that way, this is where the "damage multiplier" comes in. Depending on various factors like age and current mental disposition, the damage multiplier can range between 10-100. Joe Anderson once explained to me that oxygen alone is not explosive; it is merely an accelerant. So when added to another burning material, it will cause a greater release of heat energy. Boys are like this when combined. Apart they are equally dangerous, but combined they are explosive.

Thusly, we arrive at our equation:
	Damage Coefficient Summary
Boy 1 5
Boy 2 + 5
Sum 10
Damage Multiplier x 50
Combined Damage Coefficient 500

Looking at this, it mathematically explains what most parents and observers already have witnessed. To summarize in the most basic terms, "two or more boys together can really tear up some stuff".

I plan on revising my requirements on selecting a new home. Added to the requirements list will be that the house be constructed of reinforced concrete and/or cement block. In addition, drains must be installed in all the floors to make for easy cleanups and decontamination.
